The order of embeddings is maintained when sending a list of strings.

At a glance

The community member asked if the order of a list of strings sent for embedding is maintained in the returned embeddings, i.e., if "hello" is at index 0 and "world" is at index 1. Another community member responded that the order should be maintained, as the provider (in this case, "portkey") does not change the internal array indices.

Also, side question. When sending a list of strings to be embedded, does the return maintain the order? ie. if I send "hello", "world", will the embeddings for hello be index 0 and world be 1?

it should be, if it is not in order, it would be the provider doing it, because portkey does not change the internal array indices
